You know, an underwater portrait session is a lot like a wedding. Well, except for the vows. And the rings. And the “‘til death do us part” thing. And the cake. Although, I’m making a note right now that cake probably should be part of all of my future sessions.
Ok, but here is how underwater experiences and weddings are similar. They both require planning — the date, the theme, the outfits...getting all the little details figured out. And then, the big day gets here. All of that preparation comes together. You take a leap of faith. You enjoy every moment and make memories that you’ll look back on forever.
I wrote this post to walk you through the entire experience of saying “I do” to Coral + Pine. I hope it gives you a better idea of what to expect at each stage of the process, and I look forward to creating something really special for you.
Let’s plan your dream experience.
As a Coral + Pine client, you deserve an underwater experience built just for you. When you message me here or via Facebook or Instagram, we’ll set up a time for a video chat.
During this conversation, we can get to know each other, discuss your ideas, and see how I can best bring them to life for you. I’ll answer any questions you have and will give you a pricing list for prints. I’m very transparent about pricing so that no one is ever caught off guard.
Save the date.
I’ll get back to you within 24 hours with a customized quote for the photo shoot itself. You pay a retainer of $X% to reserve your date.
You’ll receive a document on how to prepare for your underwater shoot.
About 1 week out from your shoot, we’ll schedule a quick chat to confirm all the details.
It’s your big day!
Meet your team. I’ll be there to greet you along with a safety swimmer. We can also arrange for other experienced professionals such as underwater modeling coaches, wardrobe consultants, or makeup artists to be on set, depending on your vision for the shoot.
Get ready. We’ll begin your session with a warm-up to get the jitters out.
If we’re shooting in a pool, we’ll start with some light stretching.
If we’re out in nature, we’ll have extra swim masks on hand so you can explore the area while we scope out the best day-of locations to start shooting.
Dive in!
We’ll begin with some breath coaching to get you comfortable in the water. I’ll walk you through some poses, and there will be ample floats for you to rest between takes.
This is the part where you get to have fun, let your personality show, and just trust the process.
Relax and recover. Once the shoot is finished, it’s straight out of the water and into a cozy robe to warm up. Hot chocolate, anyone?
Capture the experience forever.
Your customized experience does not end with the shoot. One of the most fun parts of the process for me is advising clients in selecting the right printing option for their images. I own a fine art printer about the size of a bathtub, and I geek out over selecting the perfect materials to turn your favorite images into timeless art for your home.
I’ll have samples of different products (from agave paper to metal prints to our signature heirloom photobox) so that you can review them and really get a sense of what makes each material unique. We can do this review in-person or over video chat.
Time for your photo reveal! We’ll look through a curated gallery of images from your shoot with an initial edit. Once you’ve selected your favorites, those images will undergo detailed finishing edits to make sure the final product is a stunning piece of art that you love.
Now that you have a good idea of the full experience, let’s circle back around and start planning yours! Send me a message.
